There are the following options for joining group chats or public channels:
A group chat is only visible for the group members. You can not join a group chat on your own accord.
Whereas public channels are visible for all users. You can join a public channel any time.
How to join a group chat:
Ask a member of the group to add you to the group chat.
How to join a public channel:
Click on at the bottom of the chat list. The public channels will be displayed in the chat field.
Use one of the following methods:
To directly join a channel, click on next to a channel.
To view a channel's past messages and the channel's members, click on the channel.
To join the channel, click on below the chat window.
